Product Description
A fabulous coin for your collection! All American Eagle Gold Coins are legal-tender and contain 91.67% (22K) gold. The gold weight and diameter will vary with each coin denomination, as specified below. Each coin is backed by the U.S. Government for weight and content. In 2006, the United States Mint introduced a collectible, uncirculated version of the popular gold, silver and platinum American Eagle Coins. All three of the American Eagle Uncirculated Coins carry the same stunning designs found on their proof counterparts. The term "uncirculated" refers to the specialized minting process used to create these coins Although they are similar in appearance to American Eagle Bullion Coins, these new uncirculated coins are distinguished by the presence of a mint mark, indicating their production facility, and by the use of burnished coin blanks, which are hand-fed into specially-adapted coining presses one at a time. Each American Eagle Uncirculated Coin is carefully inspected before it is encapsulated in plastic and its pristine finish now protected. American Eagles are the only bullion gold coins guaranteed to weight and gold content by the U.S. government. The obverse features a rendition of Augustus Saint-Gardens' full length figure of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The reverse by sculptor Miley Busiek, features a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings. This quality (GRADE) rating is determined on the Sheldon scale, on which points are deducted from 70 for each flaw or imperfection on a coin's surface. A 70 is thus the highest grade a coin can achieve, with no flaws visible to the unaided eye. Features: Denomination: Five Dollar Diameter: 16.5 mm. Mint Mark: West Point, NY Mintage Year(s): 2006
